The inspiration behind the name of our 400PP, now known as the Purple Haze Bullet Space Pen, comes from the purple stratospheric haze that glows around Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. A beautiful interaction of gases and particles colliding nearly 350 miles above Titan’s surface culminates in a haunting violet glow. (Though in full disclosure, we are also fans of Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze, either works for us)!The original Bullet Space Pen was conceived in July of 1948, Paul Fisher was soon machining a new pen design shaped from solid aluminum. It became our first Fisher ball point pen, the 400 Bullet Pen, and arguably the most popular pen of the twentieth century.
